Job: Senior SAN Consultant/Engineer
Location: Springfield, VA
Duration: 6 Month Contract-to-hire
Authorization Status: US Citizens Preferred
Any travel involved: 50% to customers in the Mid-Atlantic region

Job Description:
Represents EMC in a professional manner to customers, EMC Partners and other EMC personnel at all times.
Trains customer personnel when authorized by TS Management.
Provides support and instruction to less experienced co-workers, through classroom training sessions or on-the-job mentoring.
Acts as a mentor and assists or presents training development environments to peers, customers and other organizations.
Acts as back up to Project Manager or to provide technical team leadership on specific implementations.
May be required to act as Project Manager on less complex implementations.
Performs according to established safety standards.
Reports unsafe situations and recommends improvements.
Supports and reports to engagement Project Manager while assigned to active customer engagements.
Advises Project Manager on Level of Effort required to perform the assigned software implementations.
Ensures that all project communication with the customer goes through the engagement Project Manager
Prepares, maintains and submits activity/progress reports and time recording/management reports in accordance with published procedures.
Keeps Project Managers informed of activities, alerting of any issues promptly.
Provides updates to EMC case tracking system and or other technical applications for Software implementation and Problem Reporting/Resolution.
Completes end-of-project reports.
Tracks, maintains and reports any travel and expense activities which are re-billable to the customer based on the engagement’’s Statement of Work.
Seeks advice or assistance from TS management and/or CS Technical Support as required during difficult customer situations. Works in conjunction with EMC CS or TS colleagues to ensure effective resolution of technical issues encountered during implementations.
Installs EMC software products in a Mainframe and/or Open Systems hardware environment per the specifications in the Statement of Work, Scope document, Architecture Design Document or Project Manager direction.. Performs highly complex and/or extended-stay software implementations. Successfully manages relations with Customers utilizing well-developed negotiation and influencing skills to acquire the internal and external resources necessary for optimal results. Supports Program Managers, Project Managers and Solutions Architects in developing Scopes of Work and Project Plans. May also occasionally support other activities as needed. EMC Proven Professional Certification desired.
SKILLS
Proficiency in hardware, software and/or operating systems environments.
Experience with Data migration tools such as OpenReplicator, OpenMigrator and SANcopy
Experience with Symmetrix Business Continuity Software (SRDF, TimeFinder)
Experience with EMC Control Center Suite.

Job Description:
The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of systems engineering experience, including 5 + years of OS engineering experience in complex, large-scale IT environments. You should also have 5+ years experience and demonstrated current expertise with Red Hat Linux operating systems (RHEL4 and RHEL5) and related products at a senior engineering level.
Strong preference for Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) / Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) RHEL4 or newer.
Current experience with storage subsystems including SAN infrastructure, systems clustering, and volume management.
Demonstrated expertise with high availability and disaster recovery solutions leveraging current versions of Red Hat Cluster Suite including Global File System, and Symantec Veritas HA/VCS technologies.
Linux kernel tuning, debugging, and diagnostics, and related toolsets.
Experience working with vendor processes such as Red Hat Issue Tracker and related support procedures.
Subject matter expertise with Red Hat OS families and evolution, Red Hat patch management, principles and deployment, and related toolsets.
Current hands-on experience with Linux provisioning and update systems such as yum, etc.
Demonstrated experience with Kickstart including examples of viable Kickstart files.
Demonstrated experience with RPM building.
Demonstrated experience with scripting including shell, Perl, and/or Python and the ability to cite differences in use.
Current experience in data center class engineered environments Data Center including DMZ’s and data migration techniques.
Experience with the open source development model of project coordination and related tools including Subversion, Bugzilla, etc.
Experience with authentication and naming service technologies such as LDAP, Keon, Kerberos, etc.
